The 2027 convention stands on the shoulders of the ones before it. Belgium hosted a convention. Germany hosted an earlier one. Switzerland hosted in 2025. Each of them built and refined the formula our people love.

Our commitment

We have made one simple commitment: a lessons-learned session with each past host before the plan is final. Those sessions are part of the first step on our road to July 2027, alongside the leadership adopting the vision and our site visit to the estate.

We are not starting from a blank page. The formula works, and 2027 keeps every part of it: the Lela, the Gala, the General Assembly, the barbecue. The sessions are about how to carry it, not what it is.

What we want to ask

We want to listen before we decide. In each session we plan to ask the hosts:

  • what they would keep exactly as it was;
  • what they would do differently if they hosted again;
  • where volunteers needed more support;
  • what guests told them afterwards.

We will not guess the answers here. When the sessions have taken place, we will share what we heard.

How we will share it

Trust is earned by reporting, not by asking for it. A monthly report goes to all chapters on progress, money and risks, and decisions above an agreed value go to the BCA Europe leadership, not to the UK alone. What we learn from Belgium, Germany and Switzerland will feed into that work, and into the plan the steering group signs off.

The UK hosts. Europe owns it.
